After three years of exploring a long-term presence in the Minnesota-Wisconsin region, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue our Northwoods Mission Hub. During that time we were blessed to serve over 3,000 participants across 60 parishes during the summer at CYSC Northwoods, and thousands of others through our Jesus Nights, retreats, Youth Leadership Institute and Young Adult Mission Corps. However, as a regional camp, our operations were dependent on the rental of a site that unexpectedly entered into a sales contract, breaking our lease agreements moving forward and preventing us from continuing our mission as we had hoped for the foreseeable future.

We have had the privilege of working with many incredible, mission-hearted individuals throughout our time in this community and will continue to pray for those parishes and families as we step into the next chapters of national expansion. In the meantime, we invite interested families and groups from the region to explore opportunities for involvement at CYSC Main Campus and CYSC Great Lakes for the summer of 2024.

Young Adults

If you have a passion for mission, you are invited to join the Damascus Mission Corps for formation, community, and opportunities to be on mission with Damascus throughout the school year. Connect with Dominic to learn more!

All are invited to join us Monday mornings at the Cathedral to pray and intercede together for our diocese and region.

History

Damascus's Northwoods Mission Hub was conceived when Archbishop Hebda and Bishop Cozzens invited Damascus to explore expansion into the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, after seeing the movement’s impact in Ohio. In 2021, a small team of Damascus missionaries moved to the Twin Cities to work with various parishes and movements within the Archdiocese and to establish a second location for the flagship high-adventure program, Catholic Youth Summer Camp.

In addition to running CYSC Northwoods, the mission hub team equips a community of local young adults to facilitate formation and evangelistic events for youth during the school year. Currently, CYSC Northwoods is hosted at a rented property while we explore the possibility of opening a permanent campus and a year-round retreat center that can provide world-class programs and an environment of encounter to tens of thousands each year.
